Why Pilates

Joseph Pilates believed that true health comes from a balanced body and mind. He used breath and movement to increase physical and mental stamina, flexibility, and energy, and to live life with “spontaneous zest and pleasure!” He called his method Contrology, emphasizing the importance of the mind’s control over the body and the concentration required to perform the exercises wholly and completely.

In Classical Pilates, we follow Mr. Pilates original sequence of exercises on both the mat and reformer to build balanced strength, improve posture, increase flexibility, and deepen body awareness—creating a more aligned body and confident, easeful movement to carry us through life. The chair, tower, and barrels are fun, supportive tools for enhancing our Pilates workouts.
